PBS-SCIENCE CAFÉ @ THE MUSEUM: THE PLASTIC PROBLEM

date_range February 29, 2020
location_on
schedule 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans.  It’s an environmental crisis in the making for nearly 70 years.  Plastic pollution is now considered one of the largest environmental threats facing humans and animals globally.  Because it doesn’t degrade and instead breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces, much of that plastic will remain here on earth.  The problem is clear—too much plastic.

Come to the February NMPBS Science Café and view a clip of PBS NewsHour: The Plastic Problem and then join in a discussion.  Attendees interested in solutions are invited to visit the museum’s traveling exhibit, Sayaka Ganz-Reclaimed Creations, featuring sculptures that celebrate the true wonders of nature and fabricated entirely with reclaimed materials.  Entrance to the exhibit is included with regular admission to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science.

Admission to the café is free, but a reservation is required.  For more information, and to make a reservation, contact Rose Poston at (505) 277-2396 or rposton@nmpbs.org.  Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Price: Admission to the café is free, but a reservation is required.
