John has a long history of local and national philanthropy having served on numerous boards ranging from the arts to food insecurity, education, LGBTQ issues, and animal rights.  He received the Code of the West Volunteer Service Award in 2000, America’s Promise National Volunteer of the Year in 2007, the Presidential Point of Light Service award in 2010, and was honored as “10 Who Make a Difference” in 2014.  Currently, John serves as the Treasurer and Trustee for the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, and is on the Board of Directors for the Presbyterian Health Care Foundation.
