A major figure in American conservation, Stewart Udall (1920-2010) served in the cabinets of JFK and LBJ and was the most successful U.S. Secretary of the Interior in history. A progressive Mormon from rural Arizona, Udall helped create dozens of new national parks and wildlife refuges in the 1960s and was a major player in the passing of the Wilderness Act, Land and Water Conservation Fund, Wild and Scenic River System, and more. Living in Santa Fe later in life, Udall was active in the local conservation scene and for several years defended a series of Navajo uranium miners in court. Udall’s inspiring life and legacy will be discussed during this presentation.

Scott Einberger is an environmental historian and public lands enthusiast. He lives in Washington, DC.

The book will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
