In the summer of 1924, John Sloan and Will Shuster went out sketching. While lounging in the orchard, Sloan suggested that they paint each other and Shuster agreed. They experienced a strange feeling of double duty: The consciousness of trying to paint and pose at the same time. Drawing inspiration from this event, two local artists will be invited to draw each other in the Museum’s Courtyard while visitors watch their creative process.
