Billy Jack Film Screening

date_range February 20, 2015
location_on 107 West Palace Avenue
Santa Fe, NM 87501 United States
schedule 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The New Mexico Museum of Art and IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts are pleased to co-present the iconic film Billy Jack.

Partially filmed in Santa Fe, Billy Jack is an example of the anti-establishment films of the early 1970s. It delivered a mixed message of both peace and violence in those turbulent years. Focusing on the American Indian experience during the self-determination movement, Billy Jack became a cult hero in many people’s eyes with his black hat and karate moves.

Directed by and starring Tom Laughlin, with Delores Taylor, T.C. Laughlin, Clark Howat, Stan Rice and Howard Hessman. Movie starts at 7pm. This film is rated PG-13.   114 min.

Introductory remarks by the Honorable Regis Pecos (Cochiti Pueblo) will focus on the movie’s implications on popular culture.

Teresa “TC” Laughlin, daughter of the director who appeared in the movie as a child actor, will extend video-taped greetings to the event.
