David Correia, PhD. Assistant Professor of American Studies, University of New Mexico, gives a talk in St. Francis Auditorium on “Indian Removal and the Violent Origins of Spanish and Mexican Settlement in New Mexico.”  The arrival of the Americans in the 1840s exacerbated land issues which have continued to be a major and contentious concern for both Native and Hispano communities in northern New Mexico.  

This is Part One of a three-part lecture series co-presented with El Rancho de las Golondrinas.
