Lowrider Day on the Plaza

Drive on down to catch Mayor Javier Gonzales reading a proclamation declaring this the official Lowrider Day of Santa Fe. See a car procession from Fort Marcy, followed by a show on the plaza, with music by DJ Jason Crawford (a History Museum security officer), a hopper demonstration and awards presentation. Free admission for NM residents to Con Cariño: Artists Inspired by Lowriders at the New Mexico Museum of Art and Lowriders, Hoppers, and Hot Rods: Car Culture of Northern New Mexico at the New Mexico History Museum.

Schedule of events:

8:30 Cars line up at Fuego ball fields

11:00 Start procession from ball fields to Plaza, park cars around Plaza and on Lincoln Ave.

12:10 Opening prayer

12:15 National Anthem

12:20 pm Welcome from Department of Cultural Affairs Cabinet Secretary Veronica Gonzales

12:25 pm Proclamation by Mayor Javier Gonzales

12:35 – 12:45 Additional speakers

12:45 –  Music by DJ

1:30 – 2:30 Lowrider hopping demonstration on W. Palace Ave.

3:30 Awarding of trophies

4:00 Event concluded
