GranMary’s Winter Storytelling Series with Shawn Price (Diné)

Shawn will share his knowledge and traditional teachings regarding weaving as more than just Art or a trade good, as weaving has defined the spiritual and cultural core and identity of the Navajo People.

Shawn Price is a cultural advocate, traditional Practician, holds a BA in communications from the University of New Mexico, and the Director for the Dineh’tah Navajo dance troupe. His current work is committed to the preservation and protection of all Native ceremonies and dances through legislation and advocacy efforts.    

The lecture will include some traditional Winter string game demonstrations and is open to audience participation. The program will end with a traditional prayer referencing the historic significance of the Treaty Rug on display in the Museum.
