NHCC to host celebration of Afro-Latinx culture

Join us for a celebration of Afro-Latinx culture at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC), as the Center hosts a series of events as part of the 1st annual Shared Roots festival from AfroMundo. 
Events include a literary reading and discourse with Puerto Rican and Dominican authors Mayra Santos Febres, Eleuterio Santiago Díaz and Loida Maritza Pérez, several film screens and panel discussions, and a visual arts chat and slide presentation on Afro Caribbean Cosmology.

What: Shared Roots: A Celebration of Afro-Latinx Culture 

Who: AfroMundo, a New Mexico-based organization working to amplify the voices of Afro-Latinx, Afro-Indiginous and Afro-Asian artists, storytellers, historians, tradition bearers, and culture shapers from around the world. 

Why: To showcase the shared histories, cultures and traditions of Afro peoples throughout the Americas. 

When: The Festival runs from April 16-23, with events occurring at the National Hispanic Cultural Center from April 17-21. 

Where: Events will be held at NHCC’s Wells Fargo Auditorium on April 17 and 18, and in the Center’s Bank of America Theatre from April 18-21. Please visit www.nhccnm.org/events for more information.
