Felicia Garcia (Chumash) is the Curator of Education at the School for Advanced Research’s Indian Arts Research Center (IARC). She is a member of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and grew up on her tribe’s reservation in Southern California. As the curator of education she oversees the education department at the IARC including the Anne Ray internship program and community outreach efforts. She received a B.A. in Psychology from Willamette University and an M.A. in Museum Studies from New York University. In 2018, she published the “Guide to Indigenous Land and Territorial Acknowledgements for Cultural Institutions” (http://landacknowledgements.org/) with the hope that this resource would encourage institutions to recognize and respect Indigenous homelands and inherent sovereignty.
