Chaco Canyon and Cahokia Mounds — across the Mississippi from St Louis — were the two great regional centers of America north of Mexico in the 11th and 12th century. 1,000 miles apart, the two cities were exactly contemporary. Each transformed their respective regions. This talk will compare and contrast their careers and histories, and explore if and how the two cities might have interacted.
