When she began working with clay, Gala Lewis embraced a contemporary style, but eventually incorporated figurative form into her work. Later, after studying Pre-Columbian art forms, she delved into that time period. “The work is a true reflection of self, what was felt by that individual at that time in the environment,” notes Gala Lewis. “The evolution of shape, form and design reflected changes of lifestyle.”
