Foundation members are invited to be first to see Pottery of the U.S. South: A Living Tradition at the Museum of International Folk Art. The exhibition features traditional stoneware from North Carolina and Georgia, characterized by earthy local clays, salt and ash glazes and surprising effects of wood firing. Crucial to agrarian life in the U.S. South, pottery was and continues to be central to the region’s way of life. The exhibition features works from more than forty artists, many of whom are are still living, including a younger generation inspired by the Southern tradition.
