Make arrowheads! Throw a few atlatls!

The Friends of Coronado State Monument are offering a Flint Knapping Demonstration to be held at Coronado State Monument Saturday, August 16, 2008.   Observe the art of flint knapping and how the Native Americans made arrowheads and spear points from obsidian.  “Knapping New Mexico” is a diverse group of individuals from all over the state who are drawn to the ancient art of creating arrowheads, knives, atlatls, spears and many other kinds of tools out of stone – the way our ancestors did.  Come out and see how it’s done, and throw some atlatls while you’re there!
