The Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA) invites you to a virtual talk with Zack Davisson, an award-winning translator, writer, lecturer, and scholar of manga and Japanese folklore. This free event will take place at 2 p.m. MST on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, on Zoom.
Davisson is the author of “Yurei: The Japanese Ghost,” “Yokai Stories,” and “The Supernatural Cats of Japan,” as well as a mythology expert and essayist for the “Wayward” series, published by Image Comics.
He contributed to the Museum’s publication, “Yokai: Ghosts, Demons, & Monsters of Japan,” with a chapter titled “Yokai Evolution: Mizuki Shigeru and Yokai Transformation from Folklore to Pop Culture,” which describes Mizuki’s impact on popularizing Yokai, especially through the manga character GeGeGe no Kitaro.
This event is in conjunction with the MOIFA exhibition “Yokai: Ghosts and Demons of Japan.”
